Description

This species was discovered in the Mont Bouo rainforest in the Koghi massif in southeastern New Caledonia. The slender, curled stem grows up to 18 m high and ends with a short crown shaft, on which sits a broad crown made of flat, feathered leaves with stiff, shiny green, leather-like segments. The new leaf unfolds in a beautiful maroon shade. Burretiokentia koghiensis has so far been practically unknown in culture. Young plants can be kept very well in the room.
